Expanding Access to Outpatient and Specialty Care in Tri-Cities Virginia
The Southside Regional Medical Arts Pavilion is a 32,749-square-foot outpatient medical facility developed for Community Health Systems to expand access to specialty and primary care services in the Tri-Cities region of Virginia. Completed in 2012, the facility is located on the Southside Regional Medical Center campus and was designed to complement the hospital’s inpatient services by providing a convenient, community-based setting for outpatient care. The project supports Community Health Systems’ mission to deliver high-quality, accessible healthcare through modern, patient-centered facilities.
FACILITY FEATURES & SERVICES
The Medical Arts Pavilion brings together a variety of medical practices and outpatient services under one roof, allowing patients to receive comprehensive care in a single location. The facility includes:

- Specialty Clinics including Cardiology, Orthopaedics, and Women’s Health
- Diagnostic Imaging and Laboratory Services
- Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation

The building’s design prioritizes flexibility, efficient patient flow, and natural light, creating a comfortable and accessible environment for patients and providers alike. Its location adjacent to the main hospital allows for seamless coordination between inpatient and outpatient services.
Rendina’s Role
Rendina served as developer and project manager for the Southside Regional Medical Arts Pavilion, overseeing all aspects of planning, design, financing, and construction. Working closely with Community Health Systems and Southside Regional Medical Center leadership, Rendina ensured that the project was completed on time, within budget, and fully integrated with the hospital campus. The development required close coordination among hospital departments and local authorities to meet regulatory standards and optimize connectivity with the existing healthcare infrastructure.
Impact
The Southside Regional Medical Arts Pavilion expands access to outpatient care and strengthens the continuum of services available to patients in the greater Petersburg area. By housing multiple specialties in one location, the facility promotes coordinated care, improves operational efficiency, and enhances convenience for patients.
