Transforming Retail Space into Community Care
Inspira Health Center Deptford is an 83,000 square-foot outpatient healthcare facility that transforms a former Dick’s Sporting Goods building into a modern, multi-specialty ambulatory center. Completed in 2023, the project expands Inspira Health’s presence in Gloucester County and provides convenient access to a wide range of primary and specialty care services. The conversion demonstrates how adaptive reuse can meet community healthcare needs efficiently while supporting Inspira’s strategy to deliver care closer to where patients live and work.
FACILITY FEATURES & SERVICES
The Deptford facility brings together multiple Inspira service lines in a single, patient-focused setting designed for convenience and collaboration. Key features and clinical programs include:

The design maximizes the existing building’s structure while creating a bright, welcoming healthcare environment. Sustainable design features include upgraded mechanical systems, efficient lighting, and energy-conscious materials. The site also incorporates solar energy through a rooftop installation by Equinox Renewable Energy, further enhancing environmental performance.
Rendina’s Role
Rendina served as developer and project manager, overseeing every aspect of the adaptive reuse project, including from initial site acquisition and planning, through design, construction, and delivery. Working in close collaboration with Inspira Health, Rendina coordinated the transformation of the former retail structure into a fully functional healthcare facility. The project required complex planning to meet healthcare code requirements while maintaining cost efficiency and minimizing construction duration.
Rendina’s experience in healthcare real estate and facility conversions enabled Inspira to meet market demand quickly and strategically, bringing critical outpatient services to one of South Jersey’s most populated corridors.
Impact
Inspira Health Center Deptford strengthens the system’s network of community-based care and enhances accessibility for patients across Gloucester County. The facility’s strategic location near major highways supports patient convenience and regional connectivity. By redeveloping an existing structure, the project delivered a cost-effective solution that revitalized a high-traffic commercial site while expanding Inspira’s outpatient capacity.
